916 Ludington St. has a great history in the downtown area of Escanaba. Starting as a small soda shop inside the corner dime-store in 1921. It was known then as "The Eat Shoppe" then. In 1954, as diners were making their way into popular American culture, Andrew's Cafe was born. The building has housed many different interpretations of a restaurant including "The Mayflower" and most recently as "The Downtowner". In April of 2015 Andy's Downtown Diner finally opened it doors. An instant success, Andy's Downtown Diner provides a modern touch to the classic American diner by taking old standards and classic dishes and combining them with fresh and new ingredients. Dead set on staying current with today's food trends and having excellent service, which diners typically are not known for, Andy's has become a critical part of the food landscape in the downtown area of Escanaba.
